The institute is set up in collaboration with Fire Science Academy Worldwide, University of Nevada, Reno, USA to impart high quality training in the fields of fire fighting & protection, crisis & disaster management, rescue, hazardous materials management, incident command systems and instructor training.
Chief Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated a private emergency response training centre today at Navagama village in Vaghodiya taluka, 20 km. from Vadodara. On the occasion, the Chief Minister expressed desire to equip the disaster management mechanism in petroleum and chemicals sectors with latest technology.
The emergency response centre has been started by Checkmate Service’s Institute of Fire Safety and Disaster Management Study (IFSDMS). Such state-of-the-art disaster management training will be provided for the first time in entire Asia by IFSDMS in association with the Fire Science Academy of USA’s Nevada University. The centre will impart training for disaster management and emergency rescueand safeguarding. Affiliated with the Fire Science Academy – University of Nevada, Reno, USA, the institute is Asia’s first training institute which has oil fired zero discharge props. Built on an area of 100 acres, this state-of-the-art advanced emergency response training facility is Asia’s premiere flammable liquid fire fighting training center, with full scale replicas of industrial facilities for flammable liquid fires, hazmat accidents, technical, confined space and vertical rescue. Chief Minister Narendra Modi said, “the challenges related to safety will increase with the development. But the losses can be successfully reduced with a quality disaster management system.” Modi further said, “Gujarat turned the time of devastating earthquake into an opportunity and enacted nation’s first disaster management law. Local bodies, municipalities and municipal corporations have been equipped with latest disaster management resources.” Congratulating the IFSDMS for imparting fire safety training for the safety of common people Chief Minister expressed resolve to promote public private partnership model in disaster management sector.
