Fire and Safety Training

Institute of Fire Safety and Disaster Management Studies (IFSDMS) was founded in 1998 and registered as a private trust under the Registrar of Societies in 2007, IFSDMS is an international-standard training and consultancy center for fire, safety, disaster management, crisis and emergency operations. It has trained more than 2000 fire fighting personnel and provided certified training approved by the government of Gujarat, for firemen and sub fire officers. In 12 years, IFSDMS has served the emergency response and training needs of the private sector and government agencies through customized training modules.

A new zero discharge fire and safety training facility was inaugurated 2012 by Mr. Narendra Modi, then chief minister of Gujarat. The facility, spread over 100 acres and commissioned in December 2011, consists full-scale replicas of industrial mock ups with live fire burning facilities and an oil/water separation plant with capacity of 1000m3. It was created with technical collaboration and expert guidance from erstwhile world-famous Fire Science Academy Worldwide, University of Nevada, USA.

Training Courses

The institute offers a wide range of training courses and services, for the knowledge and skills needed to operate at levels ranging from fire fighter to incident commander, from operators the managers.

Hands-on Experience

The prop field uses real fuel and extinguishing agents, and comprises full-scale replicas of industrial equipment & structures, such as refinery processing units, etc to provide realistic, hands on training.

Programmes Facility

The training programs combine classroom instruction with realistic hands-on simulations of industrial, transportation, and hazardous materials disasters, caused by human error or nature.

  • 2017 – HPCL, to train officers, operators, and contract workmen working in terminals depots.
  • 2017 – Indian Oil Corp Ltd, to train officers, operators, and contract workmen working in terminals and depots.
  • 2017 – Cairn India Ltd, to train officers and operators.
  • 2016 – BPCL, to train officers, operators, and contract workmen working in terminals and depots.
  • 2016 – HPCL, to train officers, operators, and contract workmen working in terminals and depots.
  • 2016 – Shell India, to train officers, operators, and contract workmen working at LNG terminal at Hazira, Surat, Gujarat.
  • 2015 – HPCL and BPCL, to train officers and operators working in terminals and refineries.
  • 2014 – Petronet LNG, to train fire officers and operators in emergency response
  • 2014 – HPCL, to train employees working at LPG plants on fighting live fire.
  • 2014 – BPCL, to train officers working at terminal, plants, aviation, in fighting live fire.
  • 2013 – 24-month contract from HPCL and BPCL to train employees and contractual workmen in live fire-fighting, and basic safety & rescue.
  • 2012 – SHELL, LNG, and EI Dupont for rescue and fire-fighting training.

IFSDMS Capacity

IFSDMS is amongst the few institutions world over and outside the US, capable of offering intense and realistic training for response professionals.

The facility is designed to serve 5000 trainees per year, for training plant operators, managers, security, contract staff and municipal first responders, including senior management and administration.
